Gwen Cooper

Gwen Williams, née Cooper (portrayed by Eve Myles) is a fictional character who is most famous for her appearances in Torchwood. A 21st century policewoman, she joins the Torchwood team in 2006. In addition, she has also made an appearance in Doctor Who, appearing in a 2008 story. She is often featured in Torchwood fan fiction scripts.

Personality[]

Gwen is loyal, brave and feisty, thinking about things logically and methodically. She is fiercely protective of the Torchwood team, as well as her husband Rhys (Kai Owen) and baby daughter Anwen.

Television Appearances[]

Gwen first appeared in the debut Torchwood episode 'Everything Changes'. Since then, she has appeared in all four Torchwood series and has guest starred in the 2008 Doctor Who story, 'The Stolen Earth'/'Journey's End'.

Torchwood: The Fence[]

Gwen was a major character in the 2011 Doctor Who Online mini-series, Torchwood: The Fence. She appeared in all five episodes of the series. Gwen's role was particularly important as the plot revolved around her daughter, Anwen. The series finale saw Gwen contemplate killing herself and her baby in order to protect Anwen from the wrath of the Cryzlacs. Anwen was able to avoid capture and Gwen decided to leave Torchwood for a while in order to focus on being a mother and wife.
